National Reconciliation Week 2022 begins today, with this year’s theme #BeBraveMakeChange – a call out to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation.
Reconciliation is about relationships, respect and trust. Through reconciliation, we strengthen the relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for the benefit of all Australians.
One way we can continue pursuing reconciliation is by recognising the land upon which we live and understanding its history. A simple act of acknowledging that wherever we are in Australia, we are on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lands. We then understand the truth of the history of these lands and people, and that we take action to move forward together to a reconciled future.
It’s a simple yet profound act and one we should not just perform but also make substantial through action.
Living My Way is preparing to develop its first Reconciliation Action Plan this year. We are committed to building strong and trusting relationships, championing ongoing respect and understanding between cultures and creating opportunities through our corporate action.
