Life of a Support Worker

  • February 23, 2022

Support WorkerA Support Worker looks after the well-being of people who cannot tend to their daily living on their own. They help people with disabilities or mental health needs to reach their fullest potential by providing physical and emotional support.

Support can look like many things. It could be helping you go to the park, attend a class or do social outings. It could look like helping you learn a new skill or supporting you as you work on building confidence in your everyday skills.

Because each person has unique needs, the job of a Support Worker is unique too. Often, no two days are the same. Support workers aren’t there to make your decisions for you; instead, they provide the support that you ask for, helping you live more independently and live your life the way you choose to.

Being a Support Worker can be a very rewarding job, but it can be very hard and often challenging too. Support Workers have lots of empathy, understanding and personal experiences to understand the positive difference they can make to someone’s life. Helping someone become more independent brings feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Some of the best parts of the job are sharing new experiences together, creating new memories and celebrating successes. Enabling people to overcome their fears and challenges whilst helping them to build confidence and self-esteem is probably the most rewarding career accomplishment for a Support Worker.

Choosing Living My Way Support Worker Services

Our team of Support Workers have qualifications that go beyond tertiary certifications. They have personal life experiences living and working with people with disabilities. These experiences add more value to the personalised care and support they will give you.

When you choose Living My Way for Support Worker services, we want you to have choice and control over your support services. You have the option to employ Living My Way’s Support Workers or you can choose to recruit your own Support Worker.
