Celebrate International Women’s Day 2024 (IWD)

  • March 4, 2024

On Friday 8 March, International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, and cultural, achievements of women. This day is a powerful reminder of the progress being made towards gender equality but also highlights the work that still needs to be done.

What is the theme for IWD?

The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion and aims to shine a light on both diversity and empowerment in all aspects of life.

When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we can help support a better world.  And when all women are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

To inspire inclusion means to celebrate diversity and empowerment not just on IWD but everyday, and encourage the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality.

It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected.

Amidst the global celebration of IWD, it’s crucial to shine a light on the experiences of women with disabilities. Beyond gender equality, they navigate challenges of ableism, confronting barriers to education, employment, and healthcare. From breaking glass ceilings in various fields to leading impactful advocacy movements, women with disabilities are trailblazers of empowerment and change.

As we commemorate this day, let’s ensure their voices are heard, their achievements celebrated, and their rights protected, fostering a world where every woman, regardless of ability, thrives.

NSW Women’s Week kicks off from Monday 4 March to Sunday 10 March, and features a dynamic series of events, focusing on inclusivity and celebrating the achievements of women across NSW.

This year’s events will showcase the remarkable stories and accomplishments of women and girls from diverse backgrounds, including:

  • People with disability
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
  • LGBTIQA+
  • those living in regional, rural and remote NSW.

Together we can encourage a more inclusive world.

Join us in celebrating the achievements and advocating the rights of all women.
