Payroll Officer

Payroll Officer | SCHADS Award | 30 Hours | Hybrid | NFP

Are you an experienced Payroll Officer who knows your way around the SCHADS Award and takes pride in getting payroll right?

Join Living My Way, a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation supporting people with disability to live independently, with choice and control.

We're looking for a Payroll Officer to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, working 30 hours per week. Reporting to the Executive Manager Finance ICT, you'll take ownership of end-to-end payroll while working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.

About the role

As Payroll Officer, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of fortnightly payroll for Living My Way.

This is more than processing payroll, you'll use your payroll expertise to ensure employees are paid correctly, award conditions are applied appropriately and payroll enquiries are resolved efficiently.

You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to broader Finance activities, including reconciliations and transactional processing during peak periods and leave coverage.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Interpret and apply the SCHADS Award, National Employment Standards (NES) and relevant payroll legislation
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
  • Process superannuation, PAYG and other statutory payroll obligations.
  • Respond to payroll enquiries and provide timely, professional support to employees and stakeholders.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues
  • Assist with reconciliations and other Finance activities as required
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and contribute to continuous improvement.

  

About you

You're an experienced Payroll Officer who is confident interpreting awards, highly detail-focused and comfortable taking ownership of end-to-end payroll.

You'll bring:

  • Experience processing end-to-end Australian payroll
  • Experience interpreting and applying the SCHADS Award
  • Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and the NES
  • Experience working with payroll systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical and analytical skills
  • The ability to investigate issues, solve problems and meet payroll deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • Permanent work rights in Australia.
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain them.

You'll stand out if you also have:

  • Experience in the disability, community services or not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience with reconciliations or broader Finance processes
  • A genuine interest in improving payroll processes and the employee experience
